GRAZALEMA. Rural tourism. Routes of interest
One of the simplest but most rewarding pleasures of a visit to Grazalema
is to explore the area’s routes of interest, where you can travel
for dozens of kilometres through a variety of primeval
landscapes, from routes of great difficulty, to others
that are no more than a pleasant
stroll. The Natural Park of the Sierra de Grazalema that surrounds the
Hotel Fuerte
Grazalema is
the major site in Cádiz to encounter
nature at its wildest, in sublime surroundings, with its
bosky pinsapo pine forests, and enjoy a day or two of birding,
as either an enthusiastic
amateur or serous ornithologist.

| Description |
This route begins at the centre of the town. It takes
a circular course around the most important streets of
Grazalema. On this route you will see the most emblematic
sites and monuments of the locality, as well as prime
examples of vernacular architecture. |

We take this route along the course of the rio
Guadalete towards the mountaintop Puerto del Boyar.
From the
summit of the Puerto, at an altitude of 1,103 m, there
are incomparable vistas of the whole province of Cádiz.

This takes a route on the outskirts of town. During
the course there are innumerable beautiful panoramic
vistas of the town and the surrounding mountains. At
the end of the path there is an old hermitage, or chapel,
that was destroyed during the Civil War. |

This handsome path starts on a gentle slope, where
you will pass a great diversity of plants and fantastic
views of Grazalema and its surroundings. At the end
of the path, rising up to the dam above the town, the
vistas over Grazalema open out, and you can take in
many of the spectacular mountain views that the National
Park can offer. |

This takes in the lower part of the town, along the
riverbank of the río Guadalete. The walk is
along an ancient medieval trackway, which was recently
renovated using locally quarried limestone. |

This route takes us to the area where most of Grazalema’s
argriculture is concentrated, towards the Llano (plain)
de la Pileta. Of particular beauty are the small houses
within the grove of the Río Gaidovar. |

An out-of-town route that takes a small path, ideal
for enjoying a short walk in beautiful countryside
on the outskirts of the town. On arrival at the destination,
the visitor can contemplate the representation of the
Heart of Jesus at the El Santo church and handsome
panoramas of the landscape.
