La Herradura. Routes

Located in the heart of the Costa Tropical, the areas surrounding La Herradura offer plenty of places to go hiking.

Hikking

Its fantastic location means it's easy to get around magical Granada, the charming area of Axarquía or Malaga capital, to name but a few.

Here are some hiking trails for the surrounding areas:

Ensenada de la Herradura-Punta de la Mona-Cerro Gordo: this goes through Punta de la Mona, along the Granada Highway to Almuñecar and from there towards la Mona along the Costa Highway. It's a simple trail along the coast and takes around an hour.

Salobreña-Almuñecar: an easy trail along the main two areas on the Costa Tropical. Amongst other highlights is passing by the Salazones (salting) factory and a beautiful Roman aqueduct. It takes around two and a half hours.

Sierra de Cazulas-Almuñecar-Otívar: although it's uphill, this trail is easy and takes about three hours. The beaches and beauty spots run alongside the Río Verde.
