La Herradura. Restaurants

Like all good coastal towns, La Herradura and Almuñecar the mainstay of the local cuisine is fresh fish.

However, Granada's cuisine is extremely varied. An example of a traditional local dish is Plato Alpujarreño, more commonly found inland, but a clear example of the contrasts in local cuisine. Kid goat with garlic is also outstanding.

There are also plenty of great Granada dishes here. For example, the celebrated Trevélez ham which, as the poet Pedro Antonio de Alarcón said, is made in the mountains by "ventilation by snow ". The ham and broad beans are also well worth a try.

And let us not forget the many Tapas bars, a typically Andaluz tradition, and even more so in Granada, thanks to the great variety on offer.

If you love a good dessert, a traditional local one is the Cazuela Mohína, made from village bread, almonds, sugar and eggs - a real treat! Home made rice pudding and the rosco cakes are also legendary! Thanks to the great climate, you can also try exotic fruits such asthe cherimoya, mango, guava or litchi.

If it's good food you're after, La Herradura and the whole of the Granada coastline are a great option.
