MARBELLA. Restaurants. Traditional Confectionery
The opportunities that arrived in Marbella with its foreign visitors
and settlers have tended to obscure original Marbella confectionery-making
to the point where it has almost disappeared. But in its local festivals
(and more so even than the great religious events at Easter and Christmas)
you can still enjoy traditional tortas de aceite (olive-oil tartlets),
los roscos de vino (wine and anis flavoured cakes), los borrachuelos (fried
sugar and wine sweetmeats), las torrijas (egg/cinnamon tartlets) and many
more.
And the almost obligatory winter-time filler, a breakfast of hot chocolate
and the warm spiral donuts called churros.
